Lees based social entrepreneur – and creator of Oldham Social Enterprise Network – Fiona Jones, is calling on like-minded people to come along to a free event at the Launch Pad from 10.30am-4.15pm on 19th June called: Social Enterprise in Action – sharing experience to build a stronger local economy.
The morning session will include myself and other speakers from UnLtd and Oldham Social Enterprise Network.
In the afternoon there will be workshops about social enterprises skills to choose from followed by a chance for social entrepreneurs to share their experience.
Oldham Social Enterprise Network is run by volunteers and supported by Oldham Council and Voluntary Action Oldham after being set up by Fiona in 2014 while she was supporting start-up social entrepreneurs as part of her job at Big Local Oldham.
Fiona said: “I realised there was a need for a network for people running social enterprises to meet one another and share best practice so, with the help of a grant from UnLtd Spark Awards, we’ve set up monthly meetings at venues all around Oldham.
“At these events members have said they need help to develop their skills and wanted an event for social entrepreneurs from all over Oldham and that’s how the idea for the Social Enterprise in Action event came about.
“Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) are supporting the event through the Skills Support for the Workforce Local Response Fund and we’re really excited that we’ve already got such an array of talent and experience coming along to learn together and share their experiences.”
I’m really looking forward to meeting our local social entrepreneurs at the Launch Pad. These are the people who are putting social value into the heart of their businesses from the outset and that’s a terrific mindset for any creative and aspirational entrepreneur to start with.
All Oldham based social entrepreneurs and enterprises are invited to register for a free place at the event, which will be held at Aksa Homes’ Launch Pad, and can book a place at the event online at https://www.gmcvo.org.uk/social-enterprise-action-sharing-experience-build-stronger-social-economy-0
