Parliamentarians for Peace

Standing up for international human rights

On Monday 11th December, dozens of British Parliamentarians joined together in a call for peace as part of a ‘Parliamentarians for Peace’ campaign co-ordinated by Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams MP.

The event, which marked the 75th anniversary of the UN General Assembly adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was addressed by Speaker Lindsay Hoyle.

Up to 40 Parliamentarians from at least 5 political parties, including Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Mother of the House Harriet Harman, came together to light a candle in support of calls to stand up for human rights, peace and our common humanity, as embodied by the Universal Declaration.
